What is this?
On Nov 2nd, come join us for an awesome night of wine, snacks, and speakers. This is a fully sponsored event with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.
We'll be hearing from two speakers: Liza McDowell from the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre and from Stacey Cullen from Slack!
This is an awesome way to get out and meet other women who work in tech in Vancouver (non-technical roles included and encouraged!) without the pressure of networking, all while doing some good for our larger Vancouver community.
Doors will open at 6:00pm, talks will start at 6:30pm and wrap up around 7:30pm. Stick around after for some great discussion and refreshments until 9:00pm!
Our first speaker will be Liza McDowell from the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. Liza has been with the DTWC for over 15 years and works as a Mental Health Advocate. She'll be sharing about how DTWC impacts women in the community, her specific role, and the services they provide. This will be followed by a talk from Stacey Cullen. Stacey works at Slack as a Global Facilities Project Manager and will be speaking about her somewhat unconventional journey into the tech world, and what it's like working in tech in a non-technical role.

Who are we?
Vancity Tech Women is a new group dedicated to bringing together women in the tech community of Vancouver, while also giving back to communities outside tech. Our events will be social; geared towards having fun, meeting other women in tech, and potentially learning something new! Each event's proceeds (including ticket sales) will go directly to a local charity or non-profit benefiting women in Vancouver.
